  • MOCS 2018: MOCS 2018 (https://www.mocs.uliege.be) is the web site operated by the Organizing Committee of the Merck Organic Chemistry Symposium 2018.

  • Usage Data: Usage Data is data collected automatically either generated by the use of MOCS 2018 or from the Service infrastructure itself (for example, the duration of a page visit).

When using the MOCS 2018 web site for registration, we shall ask you to provide us with certain personally identifiable information that will be used to contact or identify you (“Personal Data”). Personally identifiable information include, but is not limited to:

  • Abstract of scientific papers

We collect information when you register online by filling out the registration form.

We do not collect payment information.

You may visit our site anonymously without registration. In this case, no Personal Data are collected.

What do we use your information for?

Any of the information that we collect may be used in one of the following ways:

  • To communicate with you and to send you all the necessary information regarding the organization of the symposium.
  • To collect abstracts of posters and lectures, as well as other scientific documents, in order to facilitate their dissemination and exchange among the registered participants.
  • To personalize your registration (accommodation, dietary requirements ….) and to better respond to your needs and expectations during the symposium.
  • To send you further relevant documents after the event and to keep you informed of future editions of the symposium.

How do we protect your information?

We implement a variety of security measures to maintain the safety of your personal information:

  • Your information, including Personal Data, is stored and maintained in Belgium onto ULiege secure servers. If you are located outside Belgium and choose to provide information to us, please note that we transfer the data, including Personal Data, to Belgium and process it there.
  • All supplied information is transmitted via Secure Socket Layer (SSL) technology and then encrypted into the database to be accessed only by those authorized with special access rights to our systems, and are required to keep the information confidential.
  • The MOCS 2018 web site is open to the public, but access to the abstracts is restricted to the participants of the symposium under secure access (user name and password).
  • We shall take all steps reasonably necessary to ensure that your data is treated securely and in accordance with this Privacy Policy. No transfer of your Personal Data will take place to an organization or a country unless there are adequate controls in place including the security of your data and other personal information.
  • The private information will be kept on file for more than 90 days in order to comply with standard practice in retention of conference records.

Do we disclose any information to outside parties?

  • We do not sell, trade, or otherwise transfer your Personal Data to outside parties. This does not include trusted third parties who will assist us in operating the web site and in managing the symposium, as long as those parties agree to keep this information confidential.
  • We may also release your information when we believe that this release is appropriate to comply with the law, to enforce our site policies, or to protect others, or our rights, property, and safety.

Your access to your Personal Data

You may access personal information that the symposium organizer holds about you, and you can ask to correct personal information held about you. If you are on the symposium organizer’s contact lists, you may opt out of further contact by contacting us.
